Introduction
We aim to cater for the needs of all our guests.
Cloudlands is a three storey Victorian villa with 9 en-suite
bedrooms. The dining room, bar lounge, reception, public wc, and one double
bedroom are all conveniently situated on the
ground floor. The following
statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific
questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.
Pre-Arrival
-
The nearest railway station is Torquay - a distance of
approximately 220 metres. There is a taxi rank at the station.

The bus stop from the direction of Torquay town centre and Newton
Abbot is a distance of approximately 514 metres.
-
The bus stop from the direction of Paignton and Brixham is a
distance of approximately 555 metres.
-
Roads leading from the railway station and bus stops to Cloudlands
are on an incline.
-
There are several local taxi companies who have accessible taxis
if required. We can make bookings in advance for you.

Information and menus can be provided in large print by prior
arrangement.

provides pictures of our accommodation, further information about
the services we provide, and an online booking facility.

Arrival and Car Parking
-
Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time.
-
To ensure your accommodation is ready we ask that guests do not
normally arrive before 2.00pm. Earlier arrival may, however, be
possible by arrangement.

If your estimated time of arrival is
after 9.00pm please telephone us to make arrangements.

There are some marked bays in the
car park with enough room for all
cars.
-
There is a disabled parking space next to the front door.
-
The surface is level, flat, and tarmac.
-
Rear access to your vehicle is available once parked.
-
We offer assistance with luggage.
-
The car park is well lit with an automatic security light.
-
Two side lights illuminate the entrance during the evening, and a
light is on above the entrance door during the night.
-
The signage is in clear text showing direction to entrance. Our
logo is illuminated and clearly visible.
-
There is access to a water supply
outside the main entrance where walkers may wish to clean boots.
Main Entrance and Reception
-
The front door is always locked but we have a push button bell
which can be easily reached from any height.
-
Please ring the bell on arrival - be
assured that although the bell cannot be heard from outside we are
able to hear it within the building and someone will be there just
as soon as possible to welcome you.

There are two steps into the building. The first step measures
14cm high and the second step measures18cm high.
-
There is a handrail to the left of
the front door above the two steps.
-
A temporary ramp can be hired if requested (let us know if you
need this and we will provide on arrival).

We have a wide entrance door
measuring 105cm leading into the vestibule.
-
To the left of the vestibule there
is a wc and a space for drying outdoor clothing and footwear.
-
The inner door to the hall and reception measures 95cm wide.
-
There is seating provided in the hallway.
-
The flooring in the vestibule and public wc is ceramic tiles.
-
The flooring in the hall (and throughout the rest of the property)
is carpet.
-
A pad and pen are available at reception.
-
The hall and reception are lit by lamps, wall lights, and if
required a chandelier can be switched on to provide extra lighting.
-
All our guests are escorted to their rooms on arrival. A
familiarisation tour, or escorted visit, is available if required.
Guest Accommodation - Public Areas
-
Entrance to the property is by key. Two keys are supplied on
check in - one for the front door and one for the bedroom.

Corridors to the ground floor measure 186cm wide.
-
Corridors are well lit.
-
Lights are switched on during the night on the lower ground,
ground, and lower first floor landing levels.
-
There are 15 stairs up to a landing and
bedroom 5 (family suite)
followed by a further 8 stairs to the first floor bedrooms.
-
There are 15 stairs leading down to the two garden bedrooms.
-
The stairs to the first floor measure 15cm high, 28cm deep, 104 cm
wide.

The stairs leading downstairs measure 16cm high, 26cm deep,
85cm wide.
Public Areas - WC
-
All bedrooms are en-suite.
-
There is a public wc on entering the property.
-
The entrance door width is 71cm.
-
The flooring is ceramic tiles.
Dining Room
-
Breakfast is served in the dining room, which is
situated on the ground floor, between 8.00am and
9.15am.
-
There are no steps.
-
Furniture in the dining room is flexible and can be moved on
request.
-
Tables are made of wood with an underspace of 70cm and a central
support.
-
The chairs are made of wood with no arms and detachable padded
cushions.
-
The tables have a white lace table cloth for breakfast with
coloured place mats.
-
Our crockery is white with a burgundy pattern surround.
-
Sugar, sauces, butter, preserves, and marmalade are provided in
individual portion sachets - all these items can be available in a
dish with spoon if required by prior arrangement.

At breakfast we ask our guests to help themselves to items from
the dresser (e.g. cereal, grapefruit segments, orange juice etc),
however these can be served to your table if required.

Menus can be provided in large print by prior arrangement.
-
The lighting in the dining room is provided by three wall lights,
and if required a chandelier with a dimmer switch.
Bar Lounge
-
The Bar is open between 6.00pm and
10.30pm (or at the licensee’s discretion).
-
The seating in the bar lounge is fixed with moveable padded
stools. There are moveable wooden circular tables with a central
support.
-
The lighting in the bar lounge is provided by freestanding lamps,
and if required a chandelier with a dimmer switch.
-
We play background music at breakfast time and during the evening
during bar opening times.

Bedrooms

We have nine en-suite bedrooms.
-
All bedrooms are carpeted
throughout. Bathrooms with either cushion floor or ceramic
tiles.

There is a double en-suite bedroom
situated on the ground floor – (room 4).

The width of the door to bedroom 4 measures 87cm.
-
Beds measure 47cm high from the floor to the top of the mattress.
-
Our beds are normally made with synthetic duvets and pillows.
-
We are happy to provide sheets and blankets if preferred. Please
specify before your arrival if required.

Each bedroom has a television with remote control and clock radio.
-
Tea and coffee facilities are provided and replenished daily.
-
Complimentary bottled water is provided on arrival.
-
We also provide a hair dryer, complimentary toiletries, tissues,
and books.
-
There is an information folder in each bedroom - available in large
print if required by prior arrangement.

Emergency procedures and contact
details are displayed in all rooms.
Bathrooms – En-suite
-
All bedrooms are en-suite.
-
Ground floor double (bedroom 4) - entrance to the bathroom is by a sliding
door, the available width when door is fully open measures 83cm. In
the bathroom there is a shower cubicle and wc. A corner wash basin
is situated in the bedroom. There is a handrail by the toilet and
also one in the shower cubicle. The water for the shower comes from
the main water supply.

Cushion floor in all bathrooms,
apart from bedrooms 1 and 2 which have ceramic tiles.

Grounds and Gardens
-
We have a garden which can be accessed either directly from
bedrooms 1 and 2, or by steps from the car park.

Guests are very welcome to enjoy our
garden at all times.

There are 12 steps with a wooden hand rail leading down to the
garden from the car park.

There is a patio area with seating and tables.
-
There is local park land, where assistance dogs can be exercised,
situated just 94 metres from the entrance door.

Plus and Welcome All courses.

Mobile phone reception is generally good.
-
The fire alarm system is tested once a week whilst guests are out
of the building. If the alarm sounds it should be treated as an
emergency and the building must be evacuated. Fire procedures are
placed in each bedroom.

The front door will be used as the main escape route in the need
of evacuation. For guests on the lower ground level bedroom 1 is a
fire exit.

If you require more assistance for evacuating please notify us on
arrival, e.g. hearing impairment.
-
There are fire extinguishers situated on each level.
-
We are able to take delivery of hired equipment (please let us
know if ordered before your arrival) - see telephone number below
for local shop mobility. Please note that any equipment, either
brought with, or hired, will need to be of a size which can easily
be stored in the bedroom as we need to keep the entrance and hallway
areas clear for safety reasons.

We are happy to cater for special
diets or any particular likes or dislikes. Please advise us of these
before your arrival.

We do not permit smoking in the
building. Those wishing to smoke may do so in the garden area and
car park. Ashtrays are provided.

We can put medication, which needs to be kept cool, in a fridge on
request (not available 24 hours).

There is a first aid box in the kitchen.
