What happens during a reflexology treatment
A reflexology treatment lasts for approximately one hour. However, the first
treatment, will last about an hour and a half. This is because I will start with a
full consultation and medical history to determine your present and past health
and lifestyle. All information is kept strictly private and confidential.
As it is just the feet that are being worked on, you will remain fully clothed;
simply removing shoes and socks. You will be invited to relax on a treatment
couch. Your feet will be cleansed at the start of the treatment with Witch
Hazel and then a variety of reflexology techniques will be used, adapted to suit
your individual needs. Hand reflexology can be used instead of the feet if you
have a medical condition which does not allow reflexology on your feet. During
the treatment some relaxing background music will be playing.
A course of treatments may be recommended depending on a client's particular
needs. Reflexology stimulates the body's own healing mechanism and is deeply
relaxing. After one or two treatments your body may respond in a very positive,
definite way.
How will I feel during a treatment?
You should begin to feel very relaxed. Many of my clients fall asleep during the
treatment or drift into a state of deep relaxation. Changes in body temperature
can occur during and after a treatment. A blanket is available during treatment
if you do feel cold.
After your treatment
My clients generally experience a feeling of deep relaxation and sense of well
being following a treatment. To prolong the effects of your treatment and aid
the healing process you should increase your water intake to help the body
detoxify; avoid eating a heavy meal or doing any strenuous exercise for a few
hours to preserve energy; avoid smoking or drinking alcohol; and rest as much
as possible. An aftercare advice sheet will be discussed after your treatment
and given to you to take away.
