Gwyneth Ashworth BA(Hons), MFHT, SAC Dip
CNHC Registered Reflexologist
I am a fully qualified reflexologist based in Chelston, Torquay within easy reach
of the surrounding areas of Torbay and South Devon.
I am passionate about helping people achieve their health goals and use reflexology as a way to make people feel better, faster.
I trained at South Devon College and was awarded a VCTC Level 3 Diploma in
Reflexology, and a VCTC Level 3 Diploma in Health, Safety, Security and
Employment Standards. I am a Member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists
(FHT), the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), and I am fully
insured to practice. I also have up to date CRB clearance.
As part of my training in reflexology I studied Anatomy & Physiology. After
qualifying I went on to study for an FHT approved Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy &
Physiology, which I passed with distinction, and a Level 3 Diploma in Pathology.
I consider ongoing development as a reflexologist to be of great importance and
continue to study and deepen my knowledge through ongoing training, research
and personal practice.
It is important to choose a qualified reflexologist who has undertaken all the
necessary training to understand the theory and practice of reflexology.
The Federation of Holistic Therapists and the Complementary & Natural
Healthcare Council, which is supported by the Department of Health, can help
when choosing a reflexologist that meets the national standards of practice in
reflexology. The CNHC has established a voluntary register for complementary
healthcare practitioners who all meet the required levels of competence and
practice. Thinking of visiting a complementary therapist?
Reflexology is the only complementary therapy treatment I offer as I believe this
enables me to focus on just one discipline and thereby offer the highest
standard of treatment. Reflexology is sometimes perceived as being nothing
more than a ‘nice’ treatment or foot massage. By providing a professional
treatment I believe that reflexology can be seen as being a complementary
therapy which, when in some cases it is used along side modern medicine, can
work together to provide a truly ‘holistic’ treatment.
It is estimated that approximately 70% of all illness is caused by stress, or has
stress as a major contributory factor, therefore most of us are likely to be
affected by stress or stress induced illness at some time in our lives. Reflexology
can be very effective in treating stress and stress-related conditions and can
thereby help patients to find the key to a less pressurised lifestyle.
