Welcome to Cloudlands in Torquay, South Devon Cloudlands is the original name of this delightful Victorian villa which was built in 1881 and still maintains many of its original features. It was originally the home of the Countess Marie Borel, from Honfleur, France, and her son Prince Baptiste St John Borel. They were recorded as being the "principals" of Cloudlands, which was at that time the South Devon Centre of the Order of the Temple. It remained as such until 1892 when a Miss Jane Bannerman, from Roden Hall in Shropshire, took up residence with her sister and three of her servants. Today Cloudlands offers visitors to Torquay the ambience of a private Victorian home, and yet at the same time all the amenities of a guest accommodation. |
